As an initiatory demonstration of the power of Dialogue for Science, the Center is applying a Dialogical process to the Science of Consciousness, engaging physics, neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy in a rigorous conversation. Outputs from this project include Papers , Videos (below), and Books. The ongoing Process includes Working Groups and Workshops. To get involved or to support this work, please get in touch.

David Bohm on Dialogue

The British physicist David Bohm was a passionate advocate of the value of Dialogue, and the architect of one Dialogical ‘school’ (i.e. set of guidelines and principles for approaching the practice of Dialogue). As he emphasizes in this short excerpt, a key feature is the identification and suspension of assumptions, in search of a possible deeper Truth or understanding. True Consciousness Science …

A modern renaissance in Consciousness Science began in the 1990s, and has spawned a large body of work, now including publications in leading journals, such as Science and Nature. This video is an introduction to the True paper, which proves the inherently contradictory and unscientific nature of the current approach.

This video is the first in the Sciencey Trinity series, which also covers the One Experiment, and N-theory.

‘Completing a Coherent Spectrum’

The Center is currently hosting two Working Groups, under a common heading ‘Completing a Coherent Spectrum’. This video introduces the ‘Completing …’ approach, focusing on the hard-science content of Group-I. (It also touches on the metaphysical focus of Group-II, albeit more tangentially.) Group-1 work focuses on the True and One Experiment papers, as the first two pillars of the Sciencey Trinity.

Bill Isaacs on Dialogue

Bill Isaacs developed his consulting business, Dialogos, from Bohm’s approach to Dialogue. This short piece points to broader societal applications of Dialogue (which might, as Bohm suggests above, include a science/spirituality component). (Read more about the Center’s ‘Dialogue’, here.)

Consciousness, Intelligence, Reality

One of the fascinating and challenging things about Dialogue is that it’s premised on a different view of Consciousness, Intelligence, and Reality, than presumed by current mainstream science. In contrast to the Sciencey Trinity (which start from a mainstream view), this video assumes a scientifically-unconventional but coherent reality narrative, and then assesses various scienific proposals from that viewpoint.

Space, Time, Consciousness

The objects we see in visual conscious experience aren’t the same things (directly!) as the objects studied in physical theory, which participate in creating those visual experiences. This ‘Matrix’-like scientific fact opens up a world of study: when and where are the objects of physics, in relation to the objects of experience? (The full five-episode series exploring this question can be found on the Center’s YouTube channel.

Science and (Non-Dual) Spirituality …

This video was developed as part of an ongoing Dialogical engagement with The Center for Human Awakening (‘CHA’), and briefly sketches some future possibilities for the science-spirituality frontier. (For additional videos in the series from which this episode is drawn, please see the Spirituality, Science, Society playlist.)

‘The Ending of Time’

One of the most extraordinary demonstrations of Dialogical enquiry can be found in the conversations between Jiddhu Krishnamurti and David Bohm. In this, the third of fifteen conversations in The Ending of Time setries, Krishnamurti and Bohm come to the question of science as an approach to the outer, and whether that same approach can work, inwardly.
